Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Want to know where your find the most Joy in life, when you are happiest? Numerology can tell you the kinds of activities that bring you the most happiness. We just need to calculate your Joy number.

Calculating your Joy Number

Your Joy number comes from a specific branch of Numerology called Yantra or Magic Square numerology. It consist of constructing a Magic square using your birth date numbers, and then interpreting the values in the specific boxes in the square.

Your Joy number is found by taking the year of your birth (excluding the century), adding (1), and then reducing the result by fadic addition.

For example, actor Johnny Depp was born on June 9th, 1963; so his Joy number would be calculated as follows:

Joy number = (Birth Year 1) = (63 1) = (64) = (6 4) = (10) = (1)

The Joy number values and their meanings are listed below.

Joy Number (1)

You are happiest when you are doing your own thing usually off on your own. Your hobbies might include reading, playing video games, or something else with little or no interaction with other people. Your job choice would be something where you could act alone, or be your own boss.

Joy Number (2)

You are happiest when you are surrounded by friends and loved ones. You enjoy family gatherings and other special times with your closest friends.

Joy Number (3)

You are happiest when you are at social gatherings with other people. You love entertaining activities with crowds of people. Dressing up to go clubbing, or other party outings are your idea of fun. You love to talk and go in for creative hobbies where you can compare your work with that of others.

Joy Number (4)

You are happiest when you are challenged, and have some goal to work towards. You have a tendency to be overly competitive, and be a workaholic. You occasionally need to be reminded to take time off to relax and get some rest; to enjoy life.

Joy Number (5)

You are happiest when you have something different and exciting to look forward to. You love travel, meeting new people, and experiencing new things in life. Variety truly is your spice of life.

Joy Number (6)

You are happiest when you spend time with your family. You love helping people and being responsible for the needs of others. You also love creative activities of all kinds, particularly art and music.

Joy Number (7)

You are happiest when you are left alone, to your own devices. You love learning at your own pace, and contemplating the mysteries of the universe. You have a mystical streak in your nature, and either pray of meditate regularly. You loose track of time easily when you are spending it this way.

Joy Number (8)

You are happiest when you are either making money, or thinking of new ways to bring in more. You have a good mind for finance because of your love for it. You also like spending money as long as it’s for something you see as being worthwhile. You hate squandering money on frivolous or wasteful things.

Joy Number (9)

You are happiest when you are helping people less fortunate than yourself. You like working for worthwhile charities, and are always willing to lend a helping hand. You like being creative, and don’t mind giving away what you make. You′re not particularly into possessions or material things.

Joy Number (11)

You are happiest when thinking about large-scale plans and dreams; literally pie in the sky. You know deep down that you are unlikely to achieve these dreams, but they still give you enormous pleasure. But, once you are sufficiently motivated you also enjoy acting out your dreams and making them a reality. Your biggest problem is ultimately deciding which of many dreams to actually pursue.

Joy Number (22)

You are happiest when pursuing a worthwhile goal or ideal. You have to do things on a large scale, so your goal has to be worthy of your considerable abilities. You actually get more joy out of the journey to attain your goal, than the actual achievement of it.

Easter Resurrection Poem

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Many cry and wonder why
And seek further insight
From big Daddy in the sky
Not knowing what’s going on
Having nobody upon whom to hold on
When the church service is over
And all have come and gone.

Once the offering has been given
All hands shaken
Smiles exchanged
A remembrance of a few names
Dreams unfulfilled continue to turn within
Waiting incessantly for Christ within
The hope of glory to arise
To burst the bonds
Remove the guise
Fulfill His Word
And all surprise.
This futile life
How can it be
That Christ above
Would lower Himself
To die for me!
Amazing love
Beyond comprehension
That upon the cross
Christ knew painful suspension
Brutal torment
The lashing of whips and tongues
The departure of the Holy Spirit
After which He Himself was numb

It’s in the silent moments
When defeat seems evident
That the seed of significance is sown
The power of the resurrection grown
The sufferings of Christ fully known
When you seemingly are left all alone
Many don’t understand
And are quick to judge
I however care not
Knowing the Judge above
Moreover I judge myself strictly
Examine myself wholeheartedly
Desiring to walk circumspectly
To be godly and live selflessly.

Nevertheless life’s circumstances can be hard
And your faculties they temporarily retard
Making you sluggish as lard
Dulling your senses
Troubling your soul
Effecting all areas of your life
Troubling and taking their toll

Thanks be to God however
The Son did arise
With power, strength and fire in His eyes
Though many did not initially realize
And Him they publicly despised
Yet when He bounced back from defeat
Many hid in fear
Others wondered in amazement
The victimized applauded happily
Counting His resurrection
Their personal victory

It is my urgent request
That you too personalize Christ’s triumph
Over death, hell and the grave
For you too He surely
Came to save
His death
Being your life
His breakthrough
Breaking chains for you today!
Liberating you in every way
No matter what you do or say
Christ’s victory personally appropriated
Can better your day
Illuminate your way
Reverse the curse
Remove the tendency to rehearse
Your personal pain and setbacks
Because in Christ
You too bounce back!
You too are blessed
And can boldly express
His more over your less
His loving-kindness
His mercies countless
His joys boundless
His grace groundless
His Spirit measureless
So before you digress or regress
Consider God’s profoundness
To turn Christ’s sorrow
Into your joy
His pain
Into your gain

His minus
Into your plus
So why therefore all the fuss?
Remove your eyes from yourself
And look up to heaven
Where your help comes from
Get a proper perspective
And from your troubles
No more shall you run
Now is the time
For life to become fun
And like Christ our example
You too shall mightily overcome!

So arise and take your love
And all you dream of
Disburse it among the nations
Build dreams
And break limitations
Cause countless multitudes abroad
To be touched and transformed
Because of Christ’s crucifixion
And glorious resurrection!

In this pain you go
In this power you know
For love is no vain show
Though you try to deny it
It continues to grow
Despite months of neglect
It does not whither
In the face of cruelty and criticism
It remains alive
Though kill it
Or rationalize it away
You try
And outwardly lie
It nags at you within
Not rationalized away
By your psychoanalysis or spin
Christ the hope of glory
Always wins!

By reasoning against love
You cannot win
So this determine
Take this boundless, immeasurable love
And spread it throughout the nations
With it overtake the world
Turn it upside down
Take it beyond the head
Down deep into the heart
Ignite a fire within
From which no soul can depart

Magnify and multiply
This raging inferno in your heart
And erect a monument of love
An eternal work of art
From which even the hardest of hearts
Cannot depart
Let all humanity know
The glorious creation itself does fully show
That though winter may come
It does also go
And is followed by spring
A time to flourish
A time to sing
For Christ surely has arose
And for you will do a new thing.

My Piano Dream - Why I Want to Learn to Play the Piano!

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

We all need to dream and to believe that one day our dreams will come true. But without a plan for success, our dreams are unlikely to materialize. The dream of learning to play the piano is no different. Even young students, however, can learn to set goals and take responsibility for their success. Helping your child keep a piano journal is an easy way to start them thinking about how they will bring their musical dreams to life. Follow the guide below to help your child in piano map out a simple plan for success, and see how easy and beneficial keeping a piano journal can be.

My Piano Dream: (Why I want to learn to play the piano.)

Example: I want to play the piano like my grandpa. He’s awesome!

How do I want to see myself in one year?

Example: Playing well at my Spring Recital.

In Two years?

In Five to ten years?

What can I accomplish toward my piano dream this week?

Example: Learn the new piece my piano teacher assigned G Major.

Are there specific goals that will help me achieve this objective?

Examples: Memorize Five-Finger Hand Position in G;
Name each note; Identify difficult passages and;
Play over these areas in the music many times.

What are some good habits I need to develop that will support my piano goals?

Examples: Set aside a specific time to practice each day;
Avoid distractions while practicing, such as television;
Tell friends I can play after I finish practicing my piano lesson;
Attend my piano lesson with my teacher each week.

Planning to follow through with good habits that support our goals is how dreams are achieved.

The Beginnings Of Peckham’s Most Successful Failure

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

First shown on the 8th of September 1981 at 8.30pm on BBʟ, the very first episode of ‘Only Fools And Horses,’ appeared unknowingly onto our screens. From the glamour of Morecambe and Wise and even the theatrical perfection of’Ain’t ‘Arf Hot Mum,’ we found our eyes being filled with all the glitz of a council flat in Peckham. How little we knew that this squalor of unemployment and deceit, several minutes from the ground, in a block referred to as ’Nelson Mandela House,’ would be set in stone in out hearts for all eternity.

It was, however successful we know if it today, a long, up hill struggle for it’s writer, John Sullivan through those early years. The episode ’Big Brother,’ may have had the title of the programme we love to hate on Channel Four today, but back in 1981, it was received with little more enthusiasm. The first two series for Sullivan had been touch and go. Since the end of the second series had been selected for the cutting room floor, Sullivan and it’s produce, Ray Butt managed to plead with the Light Entertainment department to continue filming, after showing the first and second series again in 1983. By around half way through the fourth series, the British public were starting to take note, and the ‘Horse’s’ revolution had begun.

From this first episode to be broadcast, all those years ago, it was important to cram in as much information for the viewer as possible. John Sullivan was determined to continue the story from one series to another. Basing each original episode as a contained story, from the third series, the plot lines started on journeys of their own. Running gags were formed, for example; the apparent love affair between Del and Marlene (Boycie’s wife), trigger’s unexplained convinced theory that Del’s younger brother was called ‘Dave’ instead of Rodney and Del’s seedy long line of failed romantic engagements.
Each running gag was created due to the natural flow of each series.

What was vital for the viewer in this first episode was to create defining lines between the two brothers who were far apart in both age, personality and physical appearance. It was probably obvious to some that the two brothers didn’t share either the same mother or father at first. Another visual comedy theme of Del being short and of stocky build and Rodney being tall and lanky.

Set on a strong backdrop of the world of the black market trader during the Thatcher years, the element of modern London appears immediately in this first episode. Del frequently uses references to the struggle of high taxes, high unemployment and increases in property demand which was apart of daily life in the early to mid Eighties. This topic was given a great deal of stage time during this first story line. The scene of the three men’s existence is perfectly set in the viewer’s mind within this first half an hour. Looking across the two generations (the flat’s occupants consisted of older brother in his thirties, Del Boy. Younger brother in his twenties, Rodney and aging Granddad) the struggles are seen from both sides. The background for ‘Big Brother,’ forces us straight into the suffocation of Rodney by his ‘overpowering and domineering older brother.’ Rodney is 23 at this time, desperate to be his own man and stand lone, away from Del. He comes across obstacles of unemployment and his continuing resistance of his actual dependency on Del. As he fights an inner battle of rebellion and acceptance of his ‘bad luck’ of growing up in such a limiting, working class world, his Brother, Del continues to strive to keep his family roofed and fed.

Writing an analysis for the best loved comedy show of the 20th Century is an extraordinary thing. Whilst trying to describe the first episode, I find I am reciting a Greek tragedy, and as much as I would hate to take the wind out of your devoted humorous sails for this programme, the pathos of such a comedy turned drama, at times, should be dealt with. What we find as hilarious in this show is the failings of it and it’s characters. Whilst Del comes to realise that he has yet again fallen on a dodgy deal with a load of unknown rejected brief cases, Rodney is found to have ‘packed his ruck sack and had it away on his toes…’

Rodney fights for some recognition from his brother and employs Del to see him as a financial advisor in the ‘business’ and not the 60/40 partner, he appears himself, to be. Del delights in jogging his brother’s mind when he tells of his financial advisor paying ‘200 quid instead 175 for 25 cases and then promptly tell him to chuck them in the river,’ on discovering that the reason they are reject is that the combination for each case is written on a bit of paper inside. It is nothing that Del can do with these ‘Old English Vinyl’ cases than to take Rodney’s advice. Rodney despairs when he sees Del’s care free reaction and wonders how on Earth they are managing to pay for the heat and the rent when they had, the previous week, swapped a load of goods for a van full of one legged turkeys. The strongest amusing note is always, the short descriptions of the nicked stuff they always come across.

So there, Granddad sits in front of his two telly’s. (Something my granddad did too.) As he deliberates over Sydney Poitier or Sydney Potter. Rodney sits with open accounts book and scribbles madly with all the confidence of a young man with two GCE’s. The flat is a mess of piled up boxes of hooky goods that changed in every episode. Some of us might remember that three cases of Scotch with un paid duty of them. They sat there for weeks. This time, we can see a tyre for a Cortina and other dubious goods wrapped quickly with Cellophane in case of unwanted eyes prowling.

We learn through the arguments of this first episode that there is a 13 year age gap between the brothers, making them almost from different social generations. Del talks about missing out on The Who concerts due to looking after the infant Rodney. We learn that their Mother died when Rodney was only six, and two months after that, their father left. Leaving a teenage Del to fend for the family as well as a Granddad who refused to go back out to work as a lamp lighter - another indication of London employment of a certain era. Del also recalls the age of their Mother when she fell pregnant with Rodney. At 39, a woman having a baby was considered to be a mistake that she had made in those days (which would have been mid to late Sixties) as Del makes a reference that ‘for the first three months of her pregnancy, you were treated as an ulcer.’

We are not given much of an insight to their surroundings as regards to other supporting characters at first. Trigger (Roger Lloyd Pack) does have a scene here and is the only other character who appears in almost as many episodes as the leading cast members. We visit ‘The Nags Head,’ briefly and notice that no real mention of a landlord is made, only a barmaid, Joycie. In fact, a Land lord is not present until a long time later into the series and comes in the form as ‘Mike,’ another occasional victim of Del Boy scams. Rodney points out another of the running gags of the entire show, whilst leaning up against the bar he says,

‘D’you know, we have always had something missing in our lives? First we was Motherless, then we was Fatherless, now we’re flogging one legged turkeys from a three wheeled van…’

Yet there is an exciting, adventurous streak that Rodney’s fails to see in his brother’s life. Del delights in the daily ‘ducking and diving, wheeling and dealing,’ as it is the only life he has ever known as prides himself at being the ‘businessman’ we know he is not. Rodney, on the other hand can see beyond that and into a uncertain future. He can see that there are better opportunities out there for him, and although he admires and looks up to his brother in many ways, he still feels that need to expand his horizons and channel his ideas into a idealistic approach. Del, tragically, is always there to bring Rodney back down to Earth in making him understand that there isn’t a way out for him, and his place should stay with Del, so he can forever use his younger brother as a lad to watch out for coppers for in the market, as well as, flog sunhats when it’s peeing down with rain…

Within his ‘nationalised industry’ Del revels in the fact that he owns the ‘floor.’ He relies on his contacts (when desperately trying to get rid of the cases, he resorts to the little book of gullible mates,) and enjoys the showmanship that he delivers with ease to his ‘customers.’ finally frustrated with the strangulation of his older brother and his meaningless lifestyle, Rodney packs and leaves, supposedly for Hong Kong to find his girl friend and partner in expulsion from their Art College after smoking pot, only to return six days later full of an elaborate story of how he made it to ‘San Tropez’ and met the daughter of a rich tax exile who invited he aboard their yacht. He overly greets his brother on his ‘prodigal’ return with his story, only to find that Del know exactly where he has been simply be finding his passport on the top of the wardrobe.

Del, the master of one up man ship, has the last crack as he does in 90 % of the episodes that ran from 1981 to the last Christmas special in 2003. Rodney suffers the biggest fall when Del throws him the passport and Rodney has to come clean about where he has really been. He confesses in only getting as far as a doss house in Stoke Newington.

The episode gave the show a shaky platform as well as a test for Sullivan and his new, inspired idea from his own youth. Basing Rodney on his own mishaps as an awkward lad with a much older brother, the success of the previous Sullivan creation, ‘Citizen Smith,’ was enough to give him the confidence that he needed to fight for the air space that he thought ‘Only Fools,’ deserved. If he hadn’t then, I doubt it would have lasted more that two series.

Perhaps we wonder why it took so long for us to cotton onto the failings of the working class comedy. I guess for most of us and for me, growing up in South London, it was too near the mark. We didn’t want someone ridiculing a world in which we either lived of knew of. There were markets full of traders and many Del’s filled the streets shouting out their wares from a suitcase on a chair, so because these rough rogues just as warm and welcoming to the rest of us punters, we didn’t want to see them taken apart, brutally on a show - particularly, a comedy one. Yet, when we did start to watch, we saw that it was charming, warming and a tribute to the failures of such people who probably worked harder than the rest of us with nine to fives, who got paid to do naff all…

You never saw Del having a duvet day….

The cast of this first episode was

Del Boy Trotter- David Jason
Rodney Trotter - Nicholas Lyndhurst
Granddad - Lennard Pearce

Invest in Your Wife

Invest in your beloved wife
She is an extension of your life
Invest in your wife
Your most valuable player
Your greatest commodity

Love her wholeheartedly

She multiplies exponentially
Whatever you give her

Therefore don’t deny her

Disciple, harness, and help

Her to realize her dreams

Hear beyond her screams

Listen for the heart’s cry within

Remember she’s your closest of kin

Worthy of your time and attention

Carefully attend to her needs

Nurture and nurse her

When her heart profusely bleeds

The investment is crucial

Undoubtedly for your betterment

Because when she is down

It effects you all around

When she is happy and up

All goes upward for you

Therefore you know what to do

Focus your affection on her too!

Don’t overlook and forget about her

Pay the price, sacrifice, and be sure

She is well and moving forward

In her personal life, career, and goals

Lest she diminish within and be not whole

Beware! Neglect will eventually take its toll

So awaken to her, lest her heart be stole

By the enemy and adversary

The sly, cunning, conniving culprit

The seducing carnivor that won’t shut up.

Mighty man, it’s time for you to arise

Take hold of the woman

Who first caught your eye

Don’t get overly familiar

Neither discount and begin to despise

Work together and your dreams realize

Incorporate her into your game plan

Be a wise, prudent, and savvy man

Charm and touch your woman’s heart

Lovingly take her by the hand

Lead her into the promised land

Invest and do for your wife

Absolutely everything you can.

Jim Henson Meets The Swarm: A Review of “Bats”

Friday, February 27th, 2009

I’ll admit it right off the bat (no pun intended). I’m a complete devotee of this subgenre of movie — the nature-gone-awry, killer insect/bird/bat movie. I think I’ve seen just about every movie the genre has to offer, from the classic, “THEM” through to the newer models such as “Arachnophobia.” Unfortunately, “BATS″ ranks up there with the worst the genre has to offer.

This is undoubtedly a very formulaic genre, with a traditional set of constants. First, there are the creatures. The creatures, in their own way, are usually victims as well, having been turned into killing machines by some outside force, be it natural, or — more often — manmade. Over the years, these movie creature mutations have been blamed on atomic bombs, nuclear leaks, heinous pesticides, and genetic engineering, to mention a few. That brings us to the second part of the equation — the mad scientist. There is usually somebody behind the mayhem — maybe the government, the scientific community, or possibly, a large, money-grubbing corporation. Finally, there is the nest — larger, scarier, more incredible (and far more difficult to eradicate) than anyone could have imagined.

“BATS″ takes the idea of formula to a new level. Everything in this movie has been done before — often many times. There was not a single original idea in this movie, not a single original piece of plotting, not a single worthwhile special effect. Not even the ending was original. After you see it, rent the 1970’s film, “The Killer Bees: Terror from the Sky” (title may be inexact). You’ll see what I mean.

Okay, so it was a Grade B movie. There’s nothing wrong with Grade B movies. A lower budget shouldn’t mean a lower level of creativity. Everything in this movie was predictable and hokey — from the bats’ lair to the bats’-eye-view camera angles (which were nothing if not distracting). In fact, what particularly distracted me was the scene when bats are attacking the town. Every bat you see flying is small, the size of normal bats, but when the camera focuses on a particular attack-in-progress, inevitably, the bat is huge.

The acting in the movie was terrible. My first clue should have been seeing Lou Diamond Phillips at the top of the credits. I can’t look at him without hearkening back to his 1990 disaster “The First Power” which probably tops the list of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. Dina Meyer as the zoologist was passable, but one person’s acting is lost in the panoply of bad acting that made up “BATS”. I must say, however, that I can’t blame it all on the acting. An actor can only do so much with dialogue that lacks the pacing and sound of truth.

The effects in this movie were downright laughable. The bats themselves looked more like pug-nosed gargoyles, and the biggest mistake was the many close-up shots. When the camera panned back to show the swarm of bats from a distance, racing across the night sky, almost blocking out the moon, it was creepy. When the camera pulled in close to show them crawling toward hapless victims, it was pitiful. This would have been Jim Henson’s nightmare.

Honestly, the one highlight in this movie was Leon, who played Jimmy, assistant to the zoologist. His comic timing broke up the tedium of this plot, and I found myself laughing out loud at his humor. This is hardly enough to make “BATS” a worthwhile viewing experience, I’m afraid.

If you want some good, creepy fun in this particular genre, don′t give up after seeing “BATS”. I would recommend “Kingdom of the Spiders,” which is wonderfully fresh and has one of the best endings of any movie I’ve ever seen. Try “The Swarm” or “Arachnophobia″. If you’re after something more campy, try “Tremors″. “Tremors″ was a very funny movie, very campy, but creative and entertaining nevertheless.

After watching a movie like this, you should feel your skin crawl. The only reason my skin crawled after watching “BATS” was thinking of the time I wasted. All in all, “BATS” was for the birds

Motivate Unmotivated Students With These Surprising Motivators

Friday, February 27th, 2009

So many youth believe that they are already prepared to live independently, and don’t need anymore training or education before embarking on life on their own. Here are some very creative ways to show youth that education will be essential to their future. All these interventions focus on common adult transportation problems. If your youngsters don’t readily have the answers to these adult situations, perhaps they also don’t “know it all” about other key adult independent living issues too.

** Off the Road Again

Explain what happens when you hydroplane, and when you hit black ice; how do you try to still stay on the road?

Answer: When you hydroplane, your car floats on a sheet of water caused by rain on the road. Black ice is ice on the road that you may not be able to see. Black ice can be present before any evidence of icy or dangerous driving conditions is obvious and can send you flying. Slow down and avoid turning your wheels abruptly. Perhaps people think about all those science classes that they skipped as they hydroplane off the road or fly through the air on black ice…

** Say Good Bye to a Good Buy You’re buying a car.

The dealer says that they will add the option you want to your car on Thursday. What is an option, and what do you say?

Answer: An option is a feature that can be added to a car, such as a cassette player. You say “I must see the option on the car before I pay.” Once you have paid for the car, the dealer has no incentive to follow though, and you lack any clout to gain compliance once you pay.

** Do You Know the Way to San Jose– Today?

Name a good site on the internet to get free directions to anywhere in the US then show how to use it by finding the way from where you are right now to San Jose.

Answer: Some great, free map sites include mapquest.com, mapblast.com, travelocity.com, anywho.com and charlotte.com.

** Filling Up Can Drain You

You fill up your gas tank at a gas station. Later, you write a check for another purchase the check bounces. You know you had over $100 in your account. What happened?

Answer: You used your debit card to buy gas and gave your card prior to the gas being pumped. The gas station put a “hold” on $100 of your checking account funds. Next time, don’t use a debit card, or wait to use the card until the amount of gas purchased is known. Then you’ll only be debited for the amount you bought, not the amount you might have bought.

** Insure It You total your car.

You and the insurance company finalize the amount that you′ll be paid for your car. Their check arrives but it’s missing $250. What happened?

Answer: The $250 was your deductible.

** It’s Classified You need to buy a car.

Ads refer to “OAC,” “AC,” “4D” and “4WD.” Translate.

Answer: OAC means “on approved credit,” that if you are deemed worthy of credit, they will loan you money to buy a car. AC is air conditioning. 4D means four doors, but 4WD means four wheel drive; got all that?!

** Did You Know That Cars Can Swim?

You’re about to get a good deal on a used car. How can you tell if the car has been for a swim?

Answer: Sometimes that good deal means that the car has a soggy past. For example, after a flood, cars can be restored to look and smell okay, but may have hidden problems from time underwater. Use the internet to search a car’s past and discover past collisions and even undersea adventures.

If You Are A Parent, You Must Check Out Audio Books For Children

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Audio books for children, or books on tape as they were called when I was a kid, are gaining in popularity for good reason. While many people think that this form of receiving information is inferior to reading, however to the contrary there are many benefits to using this kind of literature for kids. Let me share with you a few reasons that you may want to consider audio books for children.

One good point is that audio books also provide excitement that helps to expand a child’s imagination and enhance their listening skills something that television and video games simply cannot do, this does not mean reading should be substituted or replaced in any way. However, books on cd are some great resources for encouraging young kids to become avid readers. These motivating devices are wonderful vehicles for introducing kids to the world of action, adventure and learning.

Kids are motivated to read after listening to audio books. The experience is very encouraging and once kids begin taking in the stories, they simply want more. These kinds of auditory books serve to entertain and encourage children to pick up an actual book.

Listening skills are fundamental as well. Many of us know the usefulness of being a good listener and even more of us know how difficult it is to develop this skill. Audio books for children serve as great listening activities for young ones. They develop attention span and they are able to retain information that they hear through the kids’ audio books.

Not only do the audio books for children serve as motivational tools that help develop listening skills, they also work to help parents as well. One parent said “Now that I have discovered books on cd for my children, I know that even if I miss one night of story time, my kids will still have someone to read to them.”

We have all experienced long trips to vacation spots that are miles and miles away from home. Passing the time in the vehicle is a real challenge without some form of entertainment. However, purchasing a few hours worth of audio books for your children you can rest assured they will be occupied for many hours.

While many would like to see their kids reading a book during the trip, there are those who know that this isn′t a possibility. Some children get motion sickness when trying to read in a moving vehicle. Audio books for children are wonderful tools for educating and entertaining the kids while on the move.

Watching movies is a typical pastime that some families use while on long trips. Not everyone can afford portable or built-in DVD players. Also, the problem with motion sickness can apply to watching a program while in a moving vehicle. Audio books for children are ideal for any long car trip.

With all of the benefits of this relatively inexpensive activity, there is little wonder why audio books for children are gaining popularity. They serve to educate, inspire and entertain kids. Audio books encourage kids to become good listeners and good readers in the long run.

Mon 7/23/07 Lazy Day with Little Accomplished

We may be feeling like lazy Lions today, and “procrastinate before its too late,” could be our motto. Everybody deserves a day off, so don’t beat yourself up. But, don’t expect results from others. If you are waiting on an important project, you may be waiting a few more days. We may get a new idea or be looking for something different late this afternoon, but our motivation will probably drop off this evening. There could be lots of confusion late tonight, so best to go to bed early.

Tue 7/24/07 Neurosis, Morbidity, Obsessions and Fanatics

Neurosis and morbidity could be a problem today. The moon will be void of course until this afternoon, so we may find ourselves obsessing over some rather delusional thoughts. Some may be dealing with obsessions, and others may be absolute fanatics. The Moon will enter Sagittarius at 4:29 PM eastern time, and we may feel a spark of optimism. We may feel more at ease early this evening, but emotions may become a bit distorted again tonight.

Wed 7/25/07 Renewed Optimism and Ready for Anything

Our optimism will be renewed today, and we may be ready to travel. It would be a great day to take some time off for an adventure, or maybe take a little seminar on a topic you’ve been wanting to explore. Our ideals will be high late this morning, and we may be ready to expand a few projects. Just use caution during lunch, or you may find your waistline expanding also. It will be a wonderful afternoon and evening to spend some time outdoors and do something spontaneous. Just be careful of laughing too much. Life is good!

Thu 7/26/07 Creativity, Adventures, Patience, and Intimacy

Our intuitions will be on target this morning, and our creativity will be high. It will be an excellent day for travel, and trips will turn into adventures. Our judgments will be sound late this afternoon, and people will be patient. Got a story to tell? People will be ready to listen. We may find a higher level of intimacy with those we connect with this evening. We will probably lose our steam tonight, and we may want to enjoy a little quiet time.

Fri 7/27/07 Venus Retrograde - Relationship or Financial Problems

Venus will hit her retrograde station at 1:28 PM eastern time today in Virgo, and we may not feel like lovemaking. There may also be a few relationship or financial problems to deal with today. It will be an excellent day to get down to business, and our minds will be ready to organize and structure our lives. We may be feeling very friendly this morning, and group projects will go well early in the day. It will be a great evening to get some work done, so maybe reorganize those kitchen cabinets?

Sat 7/28/07 New Ideas, New Friends, and Exciting Social Events

Its going to be a day for new ideas and possibly even new friends. We will be ready to work hard and handle all the details this morning. We will have many original and creative ideas, so be ready to set up a new plan. It will be a great day for social events, so get out and have some fun. People will be cheerful and exciting tonight.

Sun 7/29/07 Rebel with a Cause Under the Full Moon

We may be feeling a bit rebellious today under the Aquarius Full Moon. Throw away your schedules, because they probably won’t work out. It will be an excellent day to try something different, and we may want people to see us for the unique individuals we are. Personal freedom will be very important, so go ahead and dye your hair purple! It will be a great day to spend some time with friends, and discussions could get hot.

Who is Mac Dre?

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Mac Dre was born on the fifth of July 1970 in Oakland, he grew up in Vallejo, California and lived there most of his life.

In 1989 Mac Dre released his first album, an EP titled ‘Young Black Brotha’ it had 4 tracks on it and one track ironicly titled ‘Too Hard for the F*ckin Radio’ started getting air play in North Californian radio stations. In 1991 Mac Dre returned with ‘California Livin” and by the time he released his third album ‘Whats really goin on’(1992) his music was being played all over Vallejo and North California for that matter. In clubs and peoples cars, it looked like Mac Dre was going to reach the big time. But his hopes and dreams were snatched away from him as he was put into prison as the police believed he was behind a few bank robberys.

Mac Dre was followed 300 miles by police from the ‘Bay Area’ to Fresno, his friend was wired and recorded a conversation which he started asking Mac Dre about the bank robberys. He was sentenced to five years inprisonment in 1992 for this but he wasn’t done making albums yet. ‘Back N Da Hood’ was what his fourth album was called, it was an EP which was recorded from Fresno county Jail by phone. The album shows that Mac Dre doesn’t need lots of takes to have a song the way he wants it. In the same year he recorded some more songs over the phone and his record company made an album from them and some of his previously released songs, the album was called ‘Young Black Brotha: The Album’.

Mac Dre was released in 1995. He got on his compilation ‘The Rompilation’ which was released under his new record company ‘Romp Records’ and sold over 60,000 copies, in the Rompalation Mac Dre appears on eight tracks alongside some of his ‘homies’ such as Mac Mall, Da Unda dog and JT the Bigga Figga. After his release he started working like crazy on his albums averaging on two albums a year. His first solo release after his release from jail was called ‘Stupid Doo Doo Dumb’, the very same year he released ‘Don’t hate the Player, Hate the Game’. In the next three years that followed he released 11 albums the latest of them ‘Thizzelle Washington’ got him the most fans and respect. In 2003 he made ‘al boo boo’ which was a cd with a free dvd and he released a dvd called Treal TV. His fans loved the dvd as it opened a window into how he lived his life.

If you ask a fan of Mac Dre whats Mac Dres best album they are likly to say all of them, this shows the consistincy of his work it was all fantastic. His career in rap was not a fair one though, he never got the commercial praise he definatly deserved. In 2004 Mac Dre released three albums ‘Genie of the Lamp’, ‘Ronald Dregan: Dreganomics’ and ‘The Game is thick, Vol 2′. These albums had North California buzzing with excitment they thought this would be the man to put the spotlight back on westcoast rap.But this as of now has not happened. On November 1st 2004 Mac Dre was victim of a drive-by on Highway 71, Kansas City. The incident happened just after a concert he was doing in Kansas, the shooting was a shock, fans in Kansas enjoyed the show, noone from Kansas had any right to shoot a North Californian rapper as the Kansas City rap scene was getting respect and money from that area. When Mac Dres mother Wanda Salvatto heard about the shooting she did not believe it. This was because she was told previously her son was dead from an overdose of drugs but yet he was fine, other Vallejo residents did not believe this either and were shocked and sad when they heard that it was true. Mac Dre was buried at Moutain View Cemetary, Oakland, CA.

Now in 2005 Mac Dre has many die-hard fans and new ones too, he is still releasing albums too! ‘Da US Open’ was released on the 22nd of March it is a collaberation between Mac Dre and Mac Mall in which they pick up the alter egos ‘Andre Macassi’ and ‘Mall Macenroe′. Later ‘Money iz Motive′ was released, it wasn’t a Mac Dre solo it was an album made by the ‘Cutthoat Committee′ which Mac Dre was a part of. ‘Treal TV 2′ is currently in its final stages before its released, on top of that Mac Dres record label ‘Thizz Entertainment’ has some unreleased Mac Dre material that they will be selling in the near future. To Mac Dres fans he will always be the best rapper from the ‘Bay Area’.
